Didomi

I had the opportunity tonight to sit in for Didomi's program. As some of you may know, I've decided to become a Didomi counselor in the near future, and so today was the first time I sat in a program. We had "Summer Camp planning", and honestly, I didn't think it was a good program to have, but I thought that enough stuff was accomplished. It wasn't the appropriate program to have because newcomers and non-campers would have attended an irrelevant program. But anyway, I feel that I definitely do belong in the Didomi setting and that the group of highschoolers are the bunch that I feel God has prepared me to serve. I'm excited to help out with the camp and look forward to more events with this group of kids!

The Fray!

Just got home a few minutes ago and I must say that the concert I just went to (The Fray with Jack's Mannequin) was AMAZINGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG! I paid for tickets in the 400 level at Molson Amphitheatre but then in between Jack's Mannequin and The Fray, I was able to move up to the literally the 1st row in the 100 section! =) Got the best non-moshpit view of The Fray! Anyway, they played all of their hits including their cover of Kanye West's Heartless! So GOOOODDDDD! I had a blast and I hope to have more opportunities to attend their concerts in the future!

Convocation!!!

I had my convocation yesterday for my undergraduate degree: Bachelor of Applied Science in Engineering Science! I'm just really happy and blessed to have the opportunity to learn and grow as a person these past four years and hopefully I've become stronger and more capable of supporting myself in the real world! I'm truly blessed to have met all the people I've met these four years and I'll always remember them and hope that one day we can all meet again to have fun and just reminisce the fun times! I also thank God for blessing me with family and friends who have supported me these years!

No Doubt!

Went to the No Doubt concert last night (opening acts: Bedouin Soundclash and Paramore...they were both OK with Paramore being a bit better, but both were nothing compared to No Doubt!) and it was a blast! No Doubt played all of their hit songs (pretty much most of the songs on their Greatest Hits CD), but I was most impressed with the band's love for the fans and their ability to put on an entertaining show. There was this one point in the concert when Gwen Stefani asked a fan to join her on stage because the dude had a No Doubt tattoo! Another fan got invited because he had lyrics to one of the songs and he got to sing on stage with Gwen!!! Lastly, there was this really cool part when Gwen started doing pushups during the intro for "Just a Girl"! =) All in all, it was an amazing show and I'm glad to have attended! No Doubt is amazing and they're definitely back! =)

Interesting softball weekend

-cell phone got owned by an errant hard grounder off a jaggedy Wigmore infield diamond....so sad because i actually like the phone
-walkoff win against mustard seeds.....down by 4 heading to bottom of 8th and we score 5 (4 of which was when there were 2 outs) to win walkoff style
-managing to only give up 14 runs to the beatitudes in a 14-1 loss....pretty good considering the fact that we were tired and knew we were up against a monstrous team

Journey To The Heart Of Here

So I haven't blogged in a while, and I know I should've blogged about this last night, but anyway, here I go with what I thought about yesterday's Missions Project event. The title of this blog post was the title of the event, and what we did was we walked around the SCAC neighbourhood and allowed God to reveal to us at any point during this journey any important cultural, religious, and economical issues that were relevant at the heart of our church community. I must admit that coming into this event, I already expected to see the ghettoness of Scarborough and how so much has changed since I first moved from Hong Kong. Some obvious changes were the decline of Dragon City Centre and also the increasing sketchiness of Agincourt Community Centre. I also felt that this neighbourhood is so diverse in race, age groups, social status, and religious beliefs. Even as we walked on Finch back to church, we came across an Islamic School, which is really close to our church. Therefore, different races and religions are all around us and we need to be mindful of their progress as well as adapt our ministry appropriately to evangelize to the lost. Don't really know what else to draw from the experience, but I think I still need more time to reflect and really see what else God will show from this walking experience.
